Project Description and Scope:
Introduction
The VSE Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in creating and refining visual assets that can be used for future branded items and projects.
Students would have the opportunity to
- Process photos taken by the VSE Career Centre and convert them into useable file formats, as well as utilize editing software like Photoshop to enhance professional appearance
- Take photos for LinkedIn headshots as a service offered by the VSE Career Centre
- Identify opportunities to proactively design assets for the VSE Career Centre
- Conceptualize needed visual assets, like web banner illustrations or icons, and work with the VSE Career Centre team to develop visuals that align with current brand principles
- Organize VSE Career Centre files into an easily accessible and well-organized reservoir of visual assets that are ready for use
We’re looking for someone like you if:
- You are creative and enjoy working on original projects
- You are detail-oriented with the ability to interpret the values/principles of an entity and represent them in a visual form
- You are able to collaborate with others and are flexible when working on items that involve ongoing feedback and adjustments
- You like graphic design and visual work
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated and focused in unstructured environments
- Intermediate knowledge of, and access to, the Adobe Creative Suite (like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Able to pitch and present visual concepts at various stages of completion
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Previous experience with and/or understanding of general principles of design
- Comfortable working with a team and asking questions, as well as incorporating feedback/suggestions into the final product
Student will receive:
- Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings
- Constant feedback on operations
- Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
Weekly Check-ins and email feedback

The VSE Career Centre is a University of British Columbia (UBC) based centre, which takes a holistic approach as a career resource centre to support Bachelor of International Economics (BIE) students to think critically. Students are supported with their professional and personal development from self-discovery stage to by providing career coaching services and resources. Additionally, we work to build long-lasting relationships with employers, businesses and other key stakeholders to help BIE students become the top choice for recruiters in various industries.
