Project Description and Scope

The Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in emplementing the initial set-up of

a peer coaching program based on previous research and recommendations that will launch September 2021 for the BIE program.

Students will have the opportunity to:

● Carefully review the background research, detailed plan, and recommendations that outlines the types of services that could be offered, potential ways to implement the program, a budget, and staffing requirements and make any relevant updates after meeting with the Director, Coordinator, and Project Manager

● Assess the programs overall needs and create a detailed timeline to ensure set up is completed with a September 2021 start date

● Work with the Survey Team to create surveys for both the student and peer coach experience

● Create recruitment, onboarding, training, and evaluation materials; work closely with the Director and Coordinator of the VSE Career Centre to hire and train peer coaches

● Set up advertising materials and communication timeline to launch the program, making sure it is in line with the mission and vision of the VSE Career Centre programming

● Organize presentations for students that can act as aids in the peer coaching program, as well as set up all student materials necessary for the program to run Fall 2021

● Communicate regularly with the Director and VSE Career Centre staff via email, in-person and by phone, in a professional manner

● Attend weekly staff meetings to discuss updates and ongoing activities with the VSE Career Centre Director

● Communicate key learnings, takeaways, and insights through debriefs, summary reports, and weekly meetings

We’re looking for someone like you if:

· You have peer coaching/mentoring/advising and/or tutoring experience preferred

· You have excellent organizational and time management skills

· You have effective oral and written communication skills

· You have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment

· You have an affinity for self-directed and collaborative project-based work

· You have basic office administrative skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment

Qualifications:

Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as an eagerness to learn

● Previous experience in a leadership role preferred

● Ability to deal with a diversity of internal stakeholders in a calm, courteous, and effective manner, utilizing strong business acumen and emotional intelligence

● Resourceful and able to research best practices in a variety of areas including benchmarking

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills in all forms (email, phone, online)

● Excellent presentation skills and able to communicate ideas clearly to a small to medium sized group

● Equally at ease working independently and in a team environment

● Must be able to work 10 hours per week for 8 weeks

Student will receive:

- Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings

- Constant feedback on operations

- Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
